Three Days To Go Until ELection Day - Let's Recap.
INTRODUCTION:
Greetings to all. This week's blog post is coming out three days early due to our upcoming elections. Therefore, it will replace the Monday evening post. I wanted to get it out early to give people time to read it. We all agree that this year, voting for a new President is critical and will set the stage for what will come, domestically and globally. Before I continue, much of the post is about opinions and facts we already know. However, when we get this close to the election, many people are tired of all the rhetoric and just want it to end. They get tired of the ads, the rallies, and the media hype.
When this occurs, one of two things happens: someone walks into a voting booth and randomly picks a name, or they don't vote. Either of those is NOT a positive approach to voting. Of course, people have the right and always will have the right to vote for the candidate that they choose, but it should be an informed decision. This post aims to recap what we have been hearing for months, look at it from a different perspective, and logically approach our decision.
WHO, WHAT, WHERE, and WHY:
You may have already voted or be planning to vote on Tuesday. You may have decided on the candidate you will vote for, or you may still be undecided. These four points are essential to understand. However, before you try, you must know what you want. What do you want as a citizen of this great nation? There are numerous issues to take into consideration. However, the two most important issues remain the border and the economy. Although every issue affects us all at some level, these two affect us more directly—meaning, in our pockets. That's where it counts, and that's where it hurts. Before you read on, decide what is important to you. Moving on,
WHO: Who is running? Well, we all know the answer to that question. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Correct?
We are fortunate because we can look back at what Donald Trump has accomplished and what Kamala Harris has been doing for almost 4 years.
But we know the facts. You must know what and how you lived during the Trump administration versus the Biden/Harris administration. Ask yourself: When was your life better? When was global stability better? When was the economy and inflation better? The answers to those questions will be different for each of us. (REFERENCE)
I do not trust job reports. They are not accurate and do not reflect the jobs lost. In all fairness, every economist will tell you a different story. After researching many charts and graphs, Barron's appears to be pretty straightforward. We must remember the pandemic was not Donald Trump's fault. He was stuck with that mess, and Biden had to inherit it. However, much of the Biden/Harris administration wasted much of the pandemic money, and only a percentage of what was spent was for the pandemic. Kamala Harris tries to separate herself from Joe Biden, but as she stated numerous times, "I was the last person in the room." Both Biden and Harris have said they were part of the decision-making process and would not change a thing. Why is she backtracking now? That's an easy question to answer. Because many of their economic policies failed, Harris cannot use those numbers to campaign against them.
Every financial report showed a better economy and lower inflation when Trump was President. Job for minorities increased as wages increased. Everything was cheaper. We all know this because we all lived through it. We all know what food and gas costs were under the Trump administration and what has escalated in the past four years under the Biden/HArries administration. Most important is that we LOST our energy independence, causing our enemies to make millions to fund their terrorist activities. In any sports books, that's a loser for the Biden/Trump administration. and Kamala Harris.
Our borders are a mess, and immigrant crime is on the rise. Many Americans have lost their lives to migrant crime. These are people that would still be alive today. What if it was your loved one that was lost? Would you be so forgiving?
In addition, regarding the who portion of this section, Trump has made every policy he promoted in his campaign clear without dodging questions and dancing around answers. So many still do not know what Kamala's policies are because she states, "I have to study them and research them before I decide." That being said, how can anyone vote for her without knowing the answers to these questions?
WHAT:
What does each candidate stand for? What are their policies, their values, and their beliefs? What will they do for us, the nation, and the world? Without quoting numerous things from the past few months, which would take a book to fill, anyone who has watched both candidates as I have should have no doubts about where Trump stands on these points versus Kamala Harris. Trump tells you straight out in everyday plain English. Kamela does it by dancing around and not committing any definitive answer. Even CNN, a media network that has supported her, got frustrated in their last interview with Harris when they could not get a straight answer to any question they asked or what individuals who attended the town hall asked.
I can only speak for myself when I say that it scares me. How can I vote for anyone who cannot answer a question with a direct answer to that question? I will concede that Trump can get a little wordy with his answers and be slightly repetitive, but I believe that is his way of getting his point across. With Kamala Harris, you forget the question when you figure out what she is trying to say since her word salad answers rarely address the original question.
A general rule of thumb about people who cannot commit to an actual answer is that they do not have an answer to that question. Any good leader MUST be able to think on the go. They do not always have a pre-planned speech and a teleprompter to read off of. A good speech writer could make a non-intelligent person sound like a scholar. We can evaluate their ability when that person has to think on the go. This is a critical trait for a President. This is the individual who must deal with other world leaders.
What is also included in WHAT is what you, as a citizen, want. I said earlier that you lived through both administrations. When was life better for you? Were your tax dollars supporting millions of people who have crossed our borders during the Trump administration? Was more of your paycheck yours? Were we involved in different world conflicts? Are these things you voted for and wanted when and if you voted for Biden/Harris in 2020? If so, I find that hard to believe, and you should review your priorities.
WHERE:
Where is this all coming from? Why are the mainstream news media networks taking sides? Where are all the millions of people who crossed our border? Where are the over 300,000 missing children that crossed our borders? Most important, WHERE ARE WE HEADED? Can we take four more years of this? Do you believe that Kamala Harris, who has supported Biden for the past four years, will make a complete turnaround? Is she telling you what you want to hear to earn your vote? Face it, she has also said her values will never change. Do you know what to believe? She has flip-flopped on so many issues that no one knows what she stands for.
The WHERE section of this post is essential because it looks to the future. Our future, our children's future, and for some, their grandchildren's future, the future of world peace, and continued threats by other nations. I do not believe this race should be as tight as the polls call it. However, I am not a true believer in polls. Some say they do not want to vote for either candidate because it's a choice between two evils, and they may not vote. We all must vote.
Voting is one of our most precious rights. You cannot complain if you do not vote. You can't have a say in your future if you don't vote. No one candidate is perfect. No human being is perfect. It comes down to where you stand on your values, and you vote for the candidate who mirrors them. Voting is not a personality contest. It is about who will do the best job. Take us in the right direction, and make life better for all of us. History has shown which of the two candidates will do that.
The most critical question in this section is WHERE are we headed? As people and a nation. Every time you go for a job interview, the interviewer asks the same question. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" Ask yourself that same question for both candidates. Where do you see yourself in four years? The answer is simple and tells me who to vote for.
WHY:
In American politics, few figures have sparked as much conversation and controversy as Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Trump, the 45th President of the United States and a prominent figure in the Republican Party contrasts sharply with Kamala Harris, the first female Vice President and the first woman of Black and South Asian descent in that role.
Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York City. He is a businessman, television personality, and politician known for his career in real estate and real estate development. Trump entered politics in the 2016 presidential election, running as a Republican. His campaign was marked by a populist style characterized by unfiltered communication and a focus on nationalism.
Before his presidency, Trump was a celebrity and reality television star, contributing to his recognizable public persona. Controversial policies, sharp rhetoric, and a focus on deregulation, economic nationalism, and immigration reform marked his presidency from January 2017 to January 2021.
Kamala Devi Harris was born in Oakland, California, on October 20, 1964. She is a lawyer and politician who served as California's Attorney General before becoming a U.S. Senator. Harris made history in 2020 by becoming the first Black and South Asian woman nominated for vice president by a major party. An advocate for progressive policies, her political career has focused on criminal justice reform, healthcare accessibility, and social justice.
Harris began her public service as a Deputy District Attorney in San Francisco and later served as the city's District Attorney. Her rise in politics culminated in her election to the U.S. Senate in 2017, where she distinguished herself as a vocal and effectual critic of the Trump administration. Many of her policies in California are highly debated as bad for the State of California, making its popularity falter.
Trump's leadership style can be described as direct and confrontational. He employs a populist approach, often appealing to the frustrations of average Americans, especially those who feel ignored by the political elite. His communication style is marked by the use of social media - particularly Twitter, where he bypassed traditional media channels to communicate directly with his supporters. Much of this was due to the mainstream media's lack of support and accurate reporting.
Trump's leadership is characterized by a firm reliance on loyalty and an informal approach. He often surrounded himself with a close-knit group of advisors and displayed an aversion to conventional political norms. This polarizing approach engendered fervent loyalty among supporters but also created significant opposition. This is usual when anyone doesn't follow the 'norm' of the 'good ole' boy club.'
Kamala Harris's leadership is generally more collaborative and consensus-driven. She emphasizes the importance of diverse perspectives in governance and advocates for policies that seek to uplift marginalized communities. Harris's legal background informs her approach to problem-solving, focusing on thorough examination and debate.
Her communication style is typically characterized by empathy, careful articulation of policies, and a focus on inclusiveness. Harris is known for her ability to connect with constituents, often prioritizing dialogue with different communities and stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities better. However, Harries tends not to commit, and dancing is the question she cannot answer. The news media refers to this as using "word salads." Something she has been doing since she was elected vice president and continues through her campaign.
Trump's economic policies primarily focus on tax cuts, deregulation, and renegotiating trade deals. His administration enacted the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 to reduce corporate taxes and stimulate economic growth. Trump also prioritized an "America First" approach in trade, seeking to reduce trade deficits and protect American jobs, particularly in manufacturing.
In contrast, Harris advocates for progressive economic policies to reduce income inequality. Her proposals include raising the federal minimum wage, increasing taxes on the wealthy to fund comprehensive social programs, and expanding access to affordable healthcare. Harris's economic vision aligns with a broader Democratic platform emphasizing social welfare and addressing systemic inequities. She does not explain where the money will come from and risks more profound inflation and high national debt.
This is a brief comparison of our two candidates. Their views on how to get to the finish line are entirely different. Yet we know she has done nothing in the past three years, including not agreeing with many Biden policies, to show us she can succeed. Yet, we know that Trump's method worked during his administration.
CONCLUSION:
As stated earlier, no one can tell you who you must vote for. That is your choice. But not voting is not the correct choice.
There are many issues at stake in this election. The ones that most skim over are healthcare and medication costs. Yes, great strides were taken, and some prescription drug costs were successfully lowered. But not enough. I have family members on medications such as Trulicity and Ozempic and others, where to avoid being on insulin, they cannot afford the copays. NO ONE should not be able to afford a medication that can keep them healthy.
Some things are not as important to younger individuals, but I remember my parents always saying you won't be young forever. No one is. In the meantime, people must be able to live week to week, live their dreams, afford to buy a home and live a fulfilling life. Whose policies do you think will get you there?
Most do not understand it all starts with energy costs. The more you pay to get it there, the more it will cost you to buy it. We need to get involved with refining better sources of cleaner energy. The Biden/Harris administration hurt these costs to help the climate, yet we buy our oil from sources that create the dirtiest energy on the planet. Studies show that we make the cleanest energy. Although it is imperfect, it is better than where we get it from. Therefore, where does that make sense? The cost is much higher, and doesn't this raise the price of goods and commodities?
Harries has no plan to fix that. Therefore, what makes you think these costs will change? Trump has a plan. Remember when we only paid $1.89 to $2.09 a gallon for gas? The time to choose is now. We have all heard and listened. We all know what it was like under Trump and what it has been like under Biden/Harris.
Early voting this year is breaking records. More Republicans are voting early than ever before. This could mean many things, and I will not speculate on its meaning. In three days, we will wrap up voting for a new president, and hopefully, as with years ago, we will know who that is before the end of the evening.
Donald Trump has faced much adversity from his political opponents, weaponizing the justice system and two assignation attempts. He is still here, standing and fighting harder than ever. That is a testament to his ability to overcome, not be intimidated, and stand his ground. That is the type of President I want to represent this country. He learned a lot during his first term as President and will not be easily fooled in his second term if elected. The days of people having to fear saying who they voted for for fear of ridicule, retaliation, losing friends, or having family arguments must end.
I voted for Donald Trump because the choice is clear when I compare the records of both candidates, and I watched both candidates' speeches and actions. Donald Trump is the only logical choice. That said, your choice is yours, and I will always respect it. Happy voting day. God Bless America.
